The Oberdorf Synagogue

Here is an English-language brochure about the synagogue.

You can also read about the Oberdorf synagogue at the Allemania Judaica web site. Even though it's in German, you should get an idea of what they're talking about. It has a picture (attached in a previous blog as well) of the Torah that Haium donated to the synagogue in 1845. The cover is probably not the original. It also has a picture of Haium’s dry-goods store (
Textilwarengeschäft).

A painting of Haium’s home

A painting of Haium’s home in Oberdorf, painted by his grandson Leopold, showing the road to Ellwangen, and the Ipf hill in the background.

Schutzbrief

A Schutzbrief (letter of protection) from 1684. One of the signers is named Haium (Chaim). We believe that he is an ancestor of Haium Löb, and this is the earliest known documentation of our family. Many thanks to Hans Wolf for providing this, and his explanation!
